Giulia y los Tellarini kamen quasi zum Erfolg, wie die Jungfrau Maria zum Kind. Eine Freundin des Gitarristen hatte die Promo CD der Band ohne deren Wissen im Hotel von Woody Allen abgegeben, der sich zu Filmaufnahmen für den Film “Vicky Christina Barcelona” in Barcelona aufhielt. Als die Band plötzlich auf ihrer myspace Seite eine Anfrage vom Produktionsbüro aus New York fanden, überlegten sie sich, daß es sich dabei nur um einen Scherz eines ihrer Freunde handeln konnte und beachteten die Nachricht nicht weiter. Nachdem eine weitere Nachricht einging, diesmal jedoch wesentlich dringender, überlegten sie, daß die mail tatsächlich echt sein könnte. So fanden sie heraus, daß sich Woody Allen sofort in ihre Musik verliebt hatte und zwei der Stücke für den Film nutzen wollte. Erst bei der Premiere stellten sie dann fest, das ihr Lied “Barcelona” das führende Thema durch den Film ist. Von da ab regneten begeisterte Kritiken auf sie ein und ihr Dasein als Indie Band, gegründet von Freunden, die gern miteinander Musik machen, wandelte sich plötzlich zu einer international gefragten Band die auf große Konzerte und Festivals oder ins Fernsehen eingeladen wurde. Immerhin konnten Giulia y los Tellarini ihre erste CD von den Einnahmen veröffentlichen und sich bei der Auswahl von Label und Vertrieb trotzdem treu bleiben. Im Jahre 2010 werden sie im deutschsprachigen Raum erstmalig zu erleben sein.

The tale of Giulia y Los Tellarini is one filled with coincidence and driven by the whims of destiny. It was destiny that brought Italian singer, Giulia Tellarini, with an accordion in her hands, to MaikMaier studio in Barcelona where she met Maik Alemany, Jens Neumaier and Alejandro Mazzoni. Immediately falling in love with her voice, these three musicians began with Giulia a project that was to draw on musical landscapes from all over the world: Mediterranean warmth, suggestive /chanson, /Latin tremendismo/, Mexican tragedy and jazzy elegance. Following these musical paths, and with the help of various friends and fellow musicians, they created the songs on “Eusebio”, an album that is persuasive, wonderful and overwhelming. Destiny then worked its wonders once again and a copy of “Eusebio” found its way into the hands of Woody Allen who, won over by the music of Giulia y Los Tellarini, decided to include it in the soundtrack of “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, which he was filming in Barcelona at that time. In fact it is the song titled “Barcelona” that he chose to be the film’s main theme, whilst another track, “La Ley Del Retiro”, was also picked to feature. Now the group are finalizing the launch of the album on La Colazione – their own label, created as a joint initiative of MaikMaier studio and the Sones cooperative – and preparing for the live shows that will accompany the presentation of “Eusebio”. And just who is Eusebio? Eusebi is retired by trade, but an artist at heart. An endearing elderly resident of the neighbourhood of Gracia, in Barcelona, he can easily be found in the cafés and squares of the area, drawing portraits of all those who are willing to offer themselves as subjects. His unique style has always fascinated the members of the group so they decided to collect his portraits, one of each of the musicians who make up Giulia y Los Tellarini, and include them in the booklet that will accompany the CD.
